Grandmother house

Received a call from Grandma and she ordered me to go over to her house to drink soup! I was reluctant to go at first but after several naggings and shoutings, I said ok in a draggy voice.

It's not that her soup was not nice. In fact, it was so nice that I could finish the whole pot. It's just that I was really lazy after yesterday's outing. I thought I could spend the whole day at home being lazy, digging nose and what's not.

My Grandma ended her call with a angry and frustrated tone, "Faster ArH"

After I put down the phone, I called my sis to ask her whether she wants to go down to Grandma's house together. Her reply was ok, because she wants to drink the soup. In the end, my elder sis drove me and my younger sis to Grandma's house.

At her house, She nagged non-stop! About what she nag, I shall not mentioned it as it was too vulgar! We just continued to eat and drink the soup as we were used to it already. We know that there is no such things as free meals and we obliged to that.

Despite a earful, we stayed for a while because it has been a long time since we last visited. All of us were busy with school, work and other things. I guess she needed someone to hear her and we, as grandson and daughters must fulfill that role.

After that, we waved goodbye to her. As we walked to the carpark, I can still see her at the kitchen's window. I waved a final goodbye to her as I know our next meeting time will be during Chinese new year.

Next I went to West Coast road with my sis. This place brings back many nostalgic memories. It was once a place where I spent my five years of secondary school days. I remembered the times where we always go Ginza Plaza after school. But now it has been renovating. I can see that it's going to be opened soon.

Guess what? The new building is called West Coast Plaza instead of the old Ginza Plaza we used to say.

Indeed, I can sense that the new West Coast Plaza is re-opening soon as shops like Watson and Popular had started arranging their stocks. I even saw people buying things from the deserted building.

I had a new section on the left side bars. I am currently selling English and Chinese Comics/Mangas. If you are interested or you have friends who likes comics or collects them, you can Email me at kenken250_@hotmail.com

Prices and meeting place can be arranged!

The Coffin

Meet up with Teresa (late for 7 mins) and went to Cineleisure to meet Sherman, yuenky and Lester. We bought the tickets for "The coffin" and were extremely excited about the movie. Although there were some movie reviews from friends that it was bad and boring, we were determined to watch it anyway.

Before we went in, we bought tibits and drinks for the movie as we had no time left. Luckily yuenky and teresa brought bags along and we was able to smuggle food in. Lester left us right after we went into the theatre because he had an interview. FTL.

Before we watched this movie, we had absolutely no idea what exactly is the coffin ritual in Thailand. We only knew that lying in coffin when you are alive is actually not good because it is something that you lie in when you are dead.

However for this movie, lying in the coffin get rid of bad luck or to prolong life. I know it's contradicting because coffin is always related to death and how can it prolong life or get rid of bad luck?

It is said that believers felt that they can act like as if they were death when they lie in the coffin to escape death. This can be especially good if that person has bad karma and wants a new beginning, a new life. It is also said that illnesses can be cured as they lie in the coffin, hence thousands of people turned up for a bizarre ritual called "Non Loeng Sadorcro".

It is also mentioned in the movie that the one lying in the coffin must close up the coffin's lid by himself or herself. See the above picture, the guy had a string tied around his hands so that when he pulls it, the lid will go slamming down hard. It is also said that the helpers or monks are not supposed to touch or help to close the lid. The result of touching or helping will make the ritual backfired.

Anyway, if you are interested in the coffin's ritual and had never heard of it, then this is a good movie to watch. Well, weak hearts are not advised to watch as it has a few popping-out scenes.

After the movie, we went Geylang via Kallang. I was surprised that Kallang was only one street or one road away from Geylang. Our motive of going Geylang was to eat it's frog porridge as it was famous for it. We had long planned about it and everytime it was unsuccessful. Today is the day that it's finally fulfilled.

And so we waited for Teresa's friend because she will be joining us for the frog porridge as well.

We ordered a total of 4 pots containing 2 pots of porridge and 2 pots of froggies!

They had a promotion of "buy 3 get 2 free" and hence the total numbers of frogs we had for the day is 5!

And we thought it will be very expensive but fortunately, it was $22 only!

Even as I was typing this entry, I kept dripping my saliva as the combination of the black sauce with the porridge delicious. The frog's meat was softer and smoother than normal chicken meats.

After eating, me, Sherman and yuenky went to Kallang stadium to exercise while Teresa and her friend goes to some function. We took several pictures outside the Kallang stadium and it was super itchy. We bare with all the itch and took pictures with a smile!

I think the itch begins here when we lie down.

As I was almost being knocked off the ledge by sherman, an uncle down there thought that it was real and almost fainted as he was shocked.

After a tiring posing, we went to the leisure park and played some arcade. Walked around and wash our hands. Yuenky went to poo poo. She said she washed her hands with soap and asked all of us to smell her hands after she pooped!

Then from leisure park, we walked to Kallang Macdonald to eat. DID I SAY WE PICKED UP A EZLINK CARD WITH $31.34?!?! yes we did and we used it to buy Macdonald paid via THAT ezlink card.

We were so elated that we ate with spasm face!

And that's not all! After Macdonald, we walked to Geylang to visit it's night attraction. That is none other than the red light district. The skillful women align themselves in a line and waited upon man filled with lust to approach them.

Sorry, we were unable to take clear pictures because we were afraid that they might know that we are taking photos of them. They might chiong over and snatched the phones and attempt to break it into two with their heels.

Adapted from yk - "They don't know one lah, they very stupid one."

It's so obvious that they are trying to seduce man or else how would you explained why would someone eat banana in the middle of the lane?

Very tired after the whole day.

Of all the things happening around me,
I just want to say Good luck to Tb
who is taking his exam later in the afternoon. Also good luck to Cousin Doreen in her N levels. Good lucks to all my friends presenting PP in a few days or weeks time. Good luck to everyone.

I know, saying good luck is useless and it is actually your own hard work that will eventually outdo everything. That is the very least I can do as a friend which I think luck can be a factor to be considered.

With one load lifted off the chest, I am elated to say that my PP poster is done yesterday. All the coldness, tiredness, hungriness and faithfulness was felt. Luckily it was over and done with. All I need to do is to wait for the poster to be printed out and enjoy the rest of the holiday.

Yesterday met up with Teresa at JE's library. As usual, she was late again. In fact, about 1 hour late. I proceed to find seats but to no avail, all the seats in the library were taken. Perhaps it was near the exam period and hence the low availability of the seats.

But you will be amazed that almost all the time I go library, (not that I often go) it is fully occupied. Sometimes you see things on the table like water bottles, sweater, notes and there is no human beings near the area. You feel like going towards the table and sweep off all the things and invade that territory. You will be even pissed off when you happen to pass by that same table after one hour to go toilet and see that the table is still unoccupied with human beings, in the same state.

In the end, I found a beggar spot in the library. Those, that is right beside the upcoming escalator whereby people goes up the escalator and glare at you for sitting there. I chose that spot because there is a electrical supply nearby. But at least I did not block anyone's path and did not leave that beggar spot with water bottles occupying the spot.

Someone finally did the justice of complaining to the customer's counter about the occupied tables. I secretly snigger at the thought of those "occupiers" rushing back to their spots upon hearing the announcements goes "Dear customers, the library is a public place for all the people. Please do not reserve seats blah blah blah... If the table is left for 20 minutes, others are allowed to take over."

Something like that. Those are not the exact words but I just know what the staff is trying to say. With such rules stated or backing me up, next time I am going to standby beside a "unhumanly-occupied" table and time upon 20mins. Once 20mins is up, I will sweep off all the stuff from the table and smile when the person came back from their hide and seek in the library.

Well, anyway, me and Teresa chiong all the way without giving up and I was proud of our determination. After it was done, we ate Astons and went home feeling extremely happy.

Just like how happy when Crayon shin getting his chocolate biscuit.

I also have it! My sis bought it for me from Daiso for 2 bucks!

Happy Deepavali
to all the Hindus.
and of course the rest of us who enjoy a holiday!

Do you know that Deepavali is also known as Diwali? Deepavali or Diwali is the direct translation of "Row of Lights" or "Festival of Lights". The lights signify victory of good over the evil within every human being.

You know it somehow remind me of lantern festival where we play with fire as a source of lights. Lighting candles and lanterns in the night is a sight to be behold.

So why do hindus celebrate Deepavali? I read it and it sounds so confusing because of the god's name. Anyway, I summarised it and...

The Killing of Narakasura:

This story is so interesting! Firstly, the evil demon called Narakasura of course, was created by Lord Krishna's wife. About why his wife would create this evil demon, that is up to you to find out. This demon is kind of special as it can be only killed by woman. Hence Lord Krishna act as if he was injured by the demon, and the wife killed the demon instead. After the death of demon, everyone celebrate with colourful lights!

This is just one significants of celebrating Deepavali. The other stories I heard were either too difficult for me to dissect or simply cannot understand. But in anyway, I hope I had not mistaken the true meaning of the above story and changing it to my very own kind of myth.

Another myth I heard is that...

Why do people play cards on Deepavali?

It is believed that goddess Parvati played dice with her husband, Lord Shiv on this day and she decreed that whosoever gambled on Deepavali night would prosper throughout the ensuring year. This tradition of playing cards - flash and rummy with stakes on this particular day continues even to day.

Everybody! Play cards today!

On Deepavali, women will have their hands decorated with beautiful designs. These designs are called Mehndi. It is usually seen in weddings and festivals.

And lastly about the Thaipusam. It is NOT celebrated during Deepavali and instead it is celebrated during Jan/Feb where the moon is full in the Tamil month of Thai.

Fire walking and carrying of kavadis were the common practices during thaipusam. However after seeing the pictures, I think I do not want to try carrying kavadis but instead still want to try out the fire walking.

Fire walking

Carrying kavadis. Maybe during Christmas, you can have a early celebration of carrying your Christmas tree onto you and act like kavadis. Can hang a lot of things some more, like clothes, photo frames and apple.

In the most random way, Happy Deepavali!

The long wait

Yesterday waited for my mum to finish her rebonding before I had my haircut. She booked an appointment at 9am and I went there at about 12 noon. I had my haircut at about 2pm and my mum's rebonding ended at 3pm. Wow, I wondered how she endure through the tiredness and pain.

Anyway, after haircut meet up with Tb and Mk. Was deciding to watch a movie. Three movies was in the selection lists and they were, Tropic Thunder, HSM3 and The Coffin. But in the end didn't watch any because...

HSM3: Mk did not watch the previous sequel
The Coffin: PS I SAID I WATCHING WITH THE E35D CLIQUE
Tropic Thunder: This is the movie that is most suited for all of us. But I don't know why, no one seem interested in it although it's M18. Normally we will go, "Wah M18 leh, must watch lah!" But it seems like it only involves guys hence nobody says a word.

Then we went to Tb's house to slack. Mk was using the com and me and Tb was busy trading starters POKEMON in Ruby and Emerald version! I specially brought the link cable and Gameboy advance along for haircut!

Then about night time, we went to have dinner at JE. After dinner, they went to my house. We played dai dee and I lost $50+. I guess it's time to stop as I had really bad luck recently. At about 2am, my sis drove them back and call it a day.

Monday will be Deepavali. Its consider a school holiday but unfortunately, it falls within our one week holiday and that only means no extra holiday for us eventually. You know what? I really want to run across the hot charcoal on the deepavali and I wondered if there is any chance or platform for me to try?

Anyway, Timothy!!!

The infamous mouth.

See what see? Buay song ar?

Sakae Sushi

Is the chinese word "rong" or something? haha I don't really know, sorry. Well, I was with my sis yesterday to run an errand to downtown east. The journey from jurong to downtown east was about 45 mins. I kept fidgeting about to help myself stay awake. I also read the street directory to "get familiarise" with our current location.

Anyway, we were as hungry as pigs and we decided to settle for Sakae sushi buffet at Whitesands. My sis crossed the age limit of being teenager for a cheaper price. She was 22 and the age limit is 21. Depressed as she is, she chose Ala carte. I chose lunch buffet as opposite as her.

However, the waitress warned her that if she chose Ala carte, she is not supposed to be eating my food as mine was buffet. We was like smirking because we thought no one would know even if the Ala carte person can secretly take the buffet's stuff. However, the rules of being Ala carte is that you have to order an item first and later not allowed to take buffet's stuff or else you will be charged accordingly.

But guess what? The waitress stood next to us to make sure that my sis, who wants Ala carte, do not take anything from the belt. Then my sis was very "gao way" because the waitress kept staring at her. My sis later change Ala carte to buffet and the waitress moved away!

Anyway, we didn't eat at our greatest potential despite it being buffet. Although the tricks of Sakae sushi is to bloat us with the large amount of rice, we still stupidly fall for their tricks in buffets.

This was the Ala carte item that my sis ordered. Totally cannot make it as you can see it wasn't finished at all. The proportion of rice to beef is like 3:1. The one beef piece was supposed to be for me to try but I simply cannot eat it because of the state it was in.

We cleverly thought of a way to make ourselves not so full in buffet.

First, you need to order an Ala carte item like what my sis ordered.
Then you pick any buffet sushi like sashimi or whatever.
Next, eat the sashimi or whatever you would like to eat and leave the rice behind.
Throw the rice into the Ala carte item.
Keep doing that and throw away the rice as it will make you full.

Results: You won't be charged for wastage! Also the waitress will be shocked as the original Ala carte item shouldn't contain that much rice!

Before I carry on, the Ala carte was served like 20 mins later and despite one or two times reminding, it finally came. Also, we ordered many sushi but it was very slow. In the end, it all came together and we was very angry with that. If that was another trick that Sakae came up with for buffets, I suggest you further lower the cost or else we shall think of more tricks to counter back.

Here's another trick. (My sis teach one - She kept laughing as she do these.)

She said, "First you remove the piece of sashimi and eat it, leave the rice behind"

"Then you add all the things that you don't want, like lemons, cucumber slices and etc" Ta dah! A new sushi! She said that the chef might steal her idea of this newly created sushi. Then she said that she need to use the wasabi to write a "copyright" at the plate. Got this kind of sis anot?

And almost immediately, she waved her chopsticks like a magic wand. She said she forget to garnish the newly created sushi with abit of wasabi. From the picture, can you see abit of shiny things? She say if you cannot see nevermind, there IS WASABI on it!

She did all these while laughing loudly. Bits of tears started dropping out from the corner of her eyes.

Shocking mermaids

I was waiting for a call because I had simply nothing to do at home currently! The stupid maplesea just have to put all the patches and updates at wednesday to make things unplayable for me. I found something to entertain myself and to my horror, I found this site. Click here!

As most of you know, I am fascinated by the mysterious underwater. I really hope one day I could go scuba diving and explore the life in the water. Of course not deep into the water until my body cannot physically take it la. Just one dive and that will be enough.

Anyway, when the word "mermaid" was mentioned, you usually think of something like a beautiful half human and half fish like creature. The most popular example of a mermaid would be "The Little Mermaid", Ariel

But you wouldn't want to imagine your beautiful dreams into something like this!

How come the hair so smooth one ar?

OR THIS!

Very disgusted at the sight of it. Of course you would say, "who will look attractive when they died for years?". But you know what? Its the features on their face that made up the intriguing factors plus disgusted comments.

Not only that, I also learn that a mermaid can be big or small, male or female, fish-like or human-like.

BIG head

SMALL like a barbie doll

MALE testosterone filled

FEMALE, the chio bu.

FISH-LIKE, eat me?

HUMAN-LIKE, got human look like this! don't you dare deny?

After looking at all those pictures, some might look rather fictitious but some really look convincing. It makes me wonder about whether all these is true. The sea is so vast and perhaps there might be lives living within that we had yet to see? I hope that scientists can explore deeper into the sea to allow us to know the creatures that have yet to be discovered.

Lastly, the mermaid that is true and still kicking till today

First of all...

Happy Birthday Meizi
(aka younger sis)

Happy Birthday Ah peng
(aka elder sis's husband)

Today is really a happy occasion! It's double happiness to the really close ones around me. Birthday are really significant dates for all of us and it really meant a lot. Being able to celebrate it with loved ones makes it especially meaningful.

So anyway, it wasn't any big or grand celebration party or whatsoever. All of us just gathered at my house and we kind of sing birthday songs, blow candles, laughed loudly and chatted a bit.

I mean it's rather embarrassing for me at first because I didn't thought that my sis's husband would came. I bought a strawberry cake which I think my younger sis will like it a lot. There, it turns out that he did not have a choice but to like it also. Anyway, happy birthday to both of you!

Also thanks JinJin for the present to Meizi. (although haven't received it) But she already got it in terms of your sincerity. Mum bought a bag for Meizi. My elder sis bought a goodie bag that contains all the stationeries in it. It costs a good $50 for it, I heard!

Looking at my younger sis's face, she certainly enjoys her birthday this year. Which kid doesn't love to be showered gifts and wishes? May I hope she will get good results in her exams and also everything will be smooth and steady for her.

Happy birthday, Meizi and Ah peng!

Yours Sincerely,

I finally broke the spell of staying home playing computer all day long over the Saturday. (Zai nan) Instead, I visit my grandmother as my sis drove us there. Over there, I on my laptop and continued playing. I guess its the same, just that the venue is different.

Anyway, long time since I saw my grandmother. She was cheerful as ever. I remembered vividly that she was a grandmother with a few words. She does not scold nor beat. I can see that she felt really happy when she saw Timothy smiled. Come to think about it, Timothy is considered the 4th generation!

I cannot help but flash a picture of him.

This photo is taken when we was about to visit grandma. Please tighten your seat belt.

Anyway, we went home at about 6pm. Aunt and cousin came over to our house. Me and my sis left for Jurong Point there after. Meet up with sis's husband and Hx. We bought the movie tickets for "Butterfly lovers"

Dinner was at Jurong point's Bento Box. Ordered their Salmon Sashimi bento set. It was just a okay set. Nothing special about it. I also share a beef pizza with Hx. The pizza was quite worth it because the serving is quite big for $8.90.

After dinner, we went over to Kiddy Palace as the show haven't start. We walked around shopping for baby's things with my sis. We kept joking with the baby stuff whenever we pick up something along the way. We even attempt to buy skirt for Timothy!

Going to eat his leg already.

Anyway, the movie finally started. The movie that we watched was Butterfly lovers. We saw the trailers for High school musical 3 and I thought it was a must watch in cinemas. Let's book this early! who wanna watch HSM3 together when it is released?

As anticipated, this movie should be nice but as predicted, it wasn't. Everybody is watching this movie especially if they like the lead actor, WuZun. It is also the first time WuZun starred in the movie's big screen and so everyone wants to know his acting skills.

My sis's husband after-movie comments was "He has the same look on his face when he is smiling and crying." He also added that "This movie will earn a lot of money because of it's budget way of filming."

My sis and Hx was at there talking about whether is it worth to watch it a second time or even buy a DVD for collection purpose. From their face, I guess is no. This movie is a first time for WuZun and I guess after this first time, lots of people might not support him in terms of acting.

My comments for the movie was that it should be called "Romeo and Juliet" instead. The ending part of the story is somewhat the same as romeo and juliet. A mediocre movie as the story should be a sad one. However, the movie was unable to give me the sad feeling and this might be the saddest part.

Don't be sad though. For WuZun lovers, I guess there ought to be a second chance for him as he is quite popular. Nevertheless, people place high hopes in everything he does.
