Genting and Kuala Lumpur trip

I wasn't around in Singapore on 1st to 4th October because I went to Genting and KL with my beloved friends and Sis. It's kind of sad because right after I came back to Singapore, the next day is school reopening and I felt tired due to the unpacking of stuff.

Anyway, school's aside. The four of us (Jinhong, Shao Cheng, my sis and me) met at Lavender control station and walked to Golden mile Tower to take the 707 agency coach to Genting. The coach cost $46 per pax.

The coach ride feel horribly boring and it seems like the conversation is getting lesser and lesser every minute. We gossip, eat, chat, sleep, read magazine, listen to music, move from places to places and finally we reached our destination when the first thing we felt after we stepped on the ground at Genting highlands for the first time, was 'icy cold'. I think the temperature was around 15 degree Celsius at 3:30am.

However, being extremely 'kiasu' and vengeful about the hot weather in Singapore the past few days, I breathed in the icy cold air greedily and coughed out bits of snowflakes and the scene was magnificent. Everyone coming down from the coach applauded for my arrival at Genting Highlands... blah blah blah...

Anyway, we left our bags at the counter and did I mention that this is the trip whereby I brought the fewest things and smallest bag ever? I just say the things I never bring. I didn't bring towel, shampoo and body wash because all these can be stolen from the hotel. I only bring 2 sets of clothing and some miscellaneous items.

We split into two teams because me and shao cheng couldn't enter the casino. We roamed around the place like scavengers while trying to explore and take note of the things that we will be doing in the morning because there is nothing else to do except casino at about 4am. My sis and Jinhong went to the casino to 'try their luck'.

Me and Sc had Macdonald at dawn time and it is me who picked out that Genting's Macdonald is kind of different with Singapore's Macdonald.

This is the view that we can see from our hotel - First world hotel. Sc kept emphasizing that it is the best weather in Genting he had ever seen.

And so we checked in the hotel at about 9am. Before we enter the hotel room, we knock on the door twice and flush the toilet. Chinese believed that these are the first things you should do when you go into a hotel room. It is to 'inform' the spirits that we will be staying there for a night or so and that we are not trying to bother 'them'. It is just like going to people's house and you greet them on your first visit.

Our hotel is the World Cup room which is the biggest of the lot. I don't know why it is called World cup room. Perhaps this room is used to watch football world cup? It has 2 Queen size beds and it is especially comfy at night! It costs SGD 100 for 1 night.

We are above the clouds level.

10am, Me and Sc chiong-ed to the theme park while the rest sleep like pig. We bought the hand band for the whole day theme park which costs RM $51. We also played 'Superman' which requires additional RM $10.

We played almost all the games and rides in the theme park except one. We didn't play the one that goes up 20 levels and suddenly come down (ya, that one). Sc was afraid of heights and he heard horrible story about a girl who did not tie her hair and the hair got stuck when the machine went all the way down from the highest point. Because of the pressure and pull, the whole head was ripped off. Urgh~

Ok let's move on to food.

Didn't try this. So I am not sure whether it's nice or not. However, I heard Sc saying, "Too salty".

Duck meat noodle. Last time when I had this, they arranged the meat nicely in a staggered way. This time like anyhow throw in. However, the duck meat is loved.

Normal fried rice.

'Xiao Long Bao'. The skin is a bit thick but I like the juice that is flowing out from it. What's with the orange thingy?

NOT NICE, next

This tastes like yam and it creates many controversy. In the end, 2 like and 2 don't like.

Science lab?

With a heavy stomach, we went back to hotel and rest. I slept for 3 hours and this is like the best sleep ever. It felt so good after a rest and it is as though I am a battery being charged and ready for the next activity.

By then, it's already 7pm. Time for dinner at 'Hou Mei'. 'Hou Mei' actually means good taste in Cantonese and it really was!

Chicken noodles. Jh recommended this eatery to us saying that the noodle is delicious. My sis doubled up the opinion.

Asam Laksa. I like the soup. It tastes sour but not that spicy and the onions and ikan bilis combination is awesome! Not nice when it turns cold.

Curry chicken noodle. Sc likes it. Looks delicious and creamy!

Jumbo hotdog set. I finished everything!

I love the big serving concept in 'Hou Mei' as in when you order a plate of chicken rice, it will fill your stomach up without you adding rice. Everything comes with a big serving unlike some high class restaurants.

After that, we shopped around and went 'Believe it or not'. Don't get me wrong, 'Believe it or not' is the name of the place. I didn't mean to ask you to believe me that we shopped around. Anyway, it was filled with all sorts of weird things like the pregnant statues that will make you pregnant once you touch it.

Out of all the exhibits, I like the illusion stroll (below) best.

You will walk on this black-coloured bridge through a tunnel-like passage. The wall is covered with polka dot spotlights that moves in a circular manner thereby creating a sort of illusion experience that makes the exit looks unreachable. You feel dizzy and you will notice that you cannot walk straight and tend to fall sideways while holding on to the railings.

I like my eyes.

We spent like 1 hour plus in it and after that we split into 2 teams again as they went casino.

We went over to Genting World's arcade and we saw 4 teenagers forming a team to play the basketball machine and impressed the onlookers to crowd around them. Their strategy is to score as many points as possible by landing the balls into the ring with great speed and accuracy. Apparently, the 4 of them took turns so that they don't tire themselves and were sharpshooters. They had thousands of tickets coming out from the machine which they didn't bother to tidy up and it forms a mountain-like shape.

The day ended when we finally gathered in the hotel room at night and everyone was so tired. Some of them didn't bath and went to bath immediately. I, of course, bath before sleeping.

The next day

I forgot to mention that there was a kind teacher we met at Genting. He gave us 3 morning buffet tickets because he and his class will be going off. That means we don't have to spend extra money on breakfast! (Something happened here but it is very complicated to explain. Moreover, it was my fault, so heck it. :P)

After morning buffet, we went back to hotel to pack up. We will be going KL by cable car and bus which I felt was quite exciting. The last time I took cable car was don't know when and it only cost RM $5 now. It's better than getting down the highlands by bus which rock us to death!

This is like the best travelling tools. Fast and cheap!

Someone living there.

Sorry for the sleepy eyes, haven't wake up yet.

Within minutes, we reached somewhere in the middle of the highlands where they have a bus interchange. This is the most the cable car can go to. We took a 1 hour bus ride and we reached KL! so fast!

When we reached KL, we bought the 'return back to Singapore' bus tickets first. Along the way, different bus company's agents kept asking us to book their bus. It's very irritating especially we don't understand what they are saying and they keep blocking your way. The more the agent asks, the more we don't book from them.

After booking the bus, we went to find the hotel that we will be staying. The weather and environment is totally different from Genting. We stayed at Chinatown inn which is located near Chinatown and there were lots of stalls there selling fake LVs and fake polo tees. Haha.

When we drop all our bags and luggages in the hotel, we are off to Times square. The journey there was complicated and Sc keep bringing us to wrong places. However, we cannot blame him because he seldom go there.

We had durian puffs. The inside was good but not the skin.

The skin like wanton skin.

This ice cream is made using real fruits! First, you choose your desired fruits and they will put the fruits and ice cream into a machine to squash them. They even let you see how they do it. I feel so healthy because I am eating real fruity flavoured ice creams!

We got lost here and we keep asking for direction to go to Jogoya Japanese Restaurant. This must be the real reason why we are at KL in the first place. Sc's mind is all about this when we were planning for the trip.

I will never forget the price of each pax because it's one of the most significant numbers and most expensive meals we had in Malaysia. It costs RM $101 after all the charges which is equal to SGD $41.

But it's actually quite worth it considering the fact that all their food is fresh, environment is good and ice cream from Haagen Daz. One more thing, the staffs was polite.

It's so fresh that it almost moved a bit!

The 'kiaps' that we can use to kiap on the food we want.

Don't know which animal's egg.

My sis says that Sc keep putting lots of clams inside. SO FAT!

They actually have baby coconuts as drinks!

This is as good as it looks.

Dark chocolate, chocolate fondue and tiramisu cakes.

Haagen Daz ice cream.

Mango puddings. like close up eye yolk.

fake shark's fin. I think there's a few chunks of real ones but you need to look real close.

Baked rice of that sort

It is mooncake festival on that day! I had a mini one to celebrate and there's one minty chocolate mooncake that is so nice.

We went to the toilet at the 1st storey and it was very dark inside.

The toilet is no ordinary toilet because there is someone inside that will help you on the tap and give you a towel to wipe your hands. You can give a tip but we never give and instead we ask him to help us take a picture. LOL. By the way, you can only use the tap unless there is someone triggering the on switch which explains why that 'someone' is in the toilet. I asked my sis whether is it the same over there in the girls toilet and she replied yes.

We watched fireworks. (light effects).

We took a taxi back to our hotel at RM $15 from a kind uncle. There was a group of indian taxi drivers that wanted to charge us at RM $25 and when we ask them to go by meter, they bluff us that if we want to go by meter, we must go other place to take. AND we really went there but found out that the taxi stand was no longer present.

When we reached our hotel, we quickly went to bed because we have to wake up super early the next day to get the FREE petronas twin tower's ticket to get up the bridge.

THE LAST DAY

Had breakfast at Chinatown and the people there speak Cantonese! cool!

Saw a Japanese that go around eating and trying out food. He is alone and he looks very happy to be roaming around.

We took a taxi down to KLCC and the taxi went metered. We were super happy but he kind of pretend to go a long way so that he can earn more money. Taxi drivers are always so cunning.

When we got there, there's 1000000 people queueing for the tickets and even if we managed to get the tickets, it's already way past 2pm which is our check out time for the hotel. We went to the opposite observatory tower (look like Singapore changi airport tower) which is 3km away!

We walked the great wall of china and Sahara desert before we finally reached the tower. We thought the entrance fees was RM $2 but it turned out to be RM $38!! They said they had a package which include going up the tower, nature park, animal zoo and F1 thingy. $##%$#%#&*&@

At the top of the observatory tower...

At the F1 game...

Sc purposely drive slowly so that his game will last longer.

At the Animal Zoo...

I only want the parrot but the staff add in the chameleon too.

We say this monkey got Albino.

We wanted to try the pony/donkey/horse ride but it's only for 50kg and below. I told the uncle I am 50kg+ and he asked me to stand on the weighing machine....

59.5KG

He say cannot. I say, 'can lah, I eat buffet just now'. He laughed but still shakes his head.

No picture at the Nature park. We are too hungry to take pictures already. We took a taxi back to Chinatown because we don't want to get across the great wall of China and Sahara desert on the returning trip.

We had Wanton noodles and I love it very much. I think it is the next nicest food right after the Jogoya buffet.

After that, we checked out and board the bus back to Singapore. It's quite a good experience travelling with friends and Sis.
