I noticed that I haven't been blogging for days and it started to haunt me. All the memories are stored in my brain and it's like I don't haven enough "MB or GB" to store them. I decided to do a quick recap of what happened.

Sunday, 28 Dec

On this day, my cousin got married. It was a happy occasion and I could totally see these words all written on their face. In my opinion, the food wasn't as nice as expected but the reason to be there was not the food.

"The table" which I am sitting at, bores me. They are my relatives which I see them once a year. They always ask the same questions. I always just smiled to them and give them the respect they loves. To me, I am just wearing a mask that shows the fake side of me.

In anyway, I hope they will be happily married to each other, which they will.

Monday, 29 Dec

Went to Tb's house for stayover. Watched Hot Shot again and sis came over to join us. I forget what we did after that but I supposed we went to eat. At night, Tb's mum made me pure orange juices. For Tb, it was like a cup of tea because he drink it everyday. For me, luckily, the oranges that her mum chose, wasn't sour or I would have cried on the spot. (I never like fruits; oranges)

Mid night was watching TV. These are things that I can simply do at home but it just feel different when you are staying over in another friend's house. You wouldn't feel tired easily and you hope the time moves slowly.

Although I was eagerly waiting for her mum to sleep so that I can use the bathroom for the longest time I want. So I was waiting and waiting, when she finally went to bed, I go for the bathroom.

Sleeping time was easy. A few chats and I went into the dreamland. We slept at 4am and I was surprised I wasn't feeling not at home. You know, sometimes people couldn't sleep if it wasn't their own bed.

Woke up by my sister's mad voice. She screamed and threw a pillow at me to wake me up. She said she would come over to Tb's house in the morning to continue the Hot Shot series. Talking about time management, she has all the time in the world.

Night time, went to watch a movie, Bedtime Stories.

How come cannot find the movie poster? Nevermind lah, take this drawing as a replacement. Anyway, the movie sucks. Once I watched it, like the title, it's really a bedtime story for me to go sleep.

Wednesday, 31 Dec

One more day to a brand new year! My mood for that day was errr... tired. I accompanied my sis to rebonding hair in the morning at 8am. How bad can it go? The session lasted about 4 hours. Luckily I had the Harry Potter book 1 to keep me company.

Then we went over to Tb's house again. It was like a spree where we keep going over to watch Hot Shot. Finally completed it and we go over to my sis house to fetch timothy. It has been a long time since I last touched him. He is still the cutest.

Abit skinnier but don't worry, the mother will bloat her.

Then we went over to fetch Hx and I finally got the 2GB thumbdrive that he promised to give. Woo I love free things.

Went over to Pasir panjang foodcourt to eat. Heard that their seafood was very nice and so we went over. Indeed, it was nice but the satay was abit expensive.

Looking at the pictures, I gulped down my saliva and almost went crazy as I am very hungry now.

Then after eating, we went to West Coast park to chill. Today being the last day of 2008, many people went there for barbecue and what's not. We just walked around and feel the cold breeze brushed across our face. This is one perfect way to spend the last day.

It was 11pm and we called Mk as he was working. He couldn't join us because he had another countdown celebration. My sis's husband came over to join us as we went to the farmart near CCK.

We decided to celebrate the new year at Farmart by catching prawns. The people there was all happily fishing the prawns and we couldn't wait to join in. At about 15mins after the new year, my sis got the first catch. The prawn was small but nevertheless, the first prawn of the year!

Waits stupidly for the stupid prawn to eat the bait.

You know what? I took 2 hours to get my first prawn! Either there was little prawns in the pond or my luck was that bad. I chose the latter because the green shirt guy opposite us got quite a lot of prawns. And 1 thing about him, he shows no reaction when he got a bite.

To me, when that first prawn decided to eat my bait and my rod bend as if it was a very big shark. I was overjoyed but not to the extreme of shouting and screaming like some crazy gangs of people opposite us.

Overall, I enjoyed the process of getting a shook on the rod and seeing the float magically goes down into the water which means I got a bite. Other than that, it was a waste of money because I had allergy towards prawns. Even if I had no allergy, that little amount of prawns CANNOT fill the stomach!

We went home after that.

Christmas Frenzy 2

Thurs 25Dec

It's Christmas and all the festive mood suddenly came rushing into us. I remembered vividly that last night, after the clique had left after the Dai dee session, I wrapped my christmas present in the middle of the night. At first, I was so excited about it and I promised to do a good job making sure that I can win the "most beautifully-wrapped-present" on the real day itself. After a few twist and fold of the wrapping paper, I came to realise I wasn't good at it.

I spent hours at it and the end product seem like a gunny sack.

With the present done, we are left with where to dine. Going Orchard on a christmas night will only make us an icing on the cake. Other places are filled with lots of people and we have to think of a place that has no or little people. Thanks to Tb, who managed to think of a place that has little people. West coast plaza!

So we meet there at 6pm. We were surprised that there was really no people! The place look just like the place when it was a normal day. Although it's not crowded, we are not going to let our guards down. We made reservation at 6:30pm at New york new york of 8 people. The 8 people includes: Me, Tb, Mk, Hx, Jinjin, my 2 sisters, mum and Timothy.

In the end, Jinjin couldn't make it as she had something important on. However we were grateful that she had made us cards and that put a smile across our face. It was also very thoughtful of her as she prepared santa claus hats and paper for the drawing lots of who is getting who's present. she also passed her present to Mk on behalf of her even though she couldn't make it. Anyway, there's always next time. Hope you can make it.

Took pictures of Timothy while waiting for 6:30pm to reach.

And you know what? This is his first Christmas!

After that, we went in and we ordered our food and came across this drink that was very funny.

It's called blood eyeball

This is what I ordered. Hawaii Terriyaki Chicken Chop. Totally push the vege aside.

After dinner, they went over to my house for the most anticipated Christmas present exchange! This is the 3rd year we had been doing this and we have to keep it going. Although it had been a headache choosing present for "you-don't-know-who" but the end result seem really worthwhile and surprising.

The rules goes like this. The person had to pick up a pre-written paper on the table which contain names. If he or she pick up the paper that contain a particular name, he or she must take that person's present. This is what that actually make the game fun and gives us a headache because we don't know who are we buying the present for, until the day itself. That is why we had to buy a present that is suitable for all the people.

If my memory never fail me as it happened last night, it was Tb who goes first. Tb picked up the paper with Jinjin name written on it. Tb open the present and all of us were so eager to see what's the present.

It reveals that it was a 6 cups set. It also comes with a set of stirrers. The cups was neatly put into a box of nyonya style which suits the Little nyonya craze happening nowadays.

Next was Hx. He pick up a note that reveals "Tb". We all looked in awe as Tb says that he had the hardest time picking present. We all can understand as it was really hard to pick something that suits everyone. Maybe we have to change the rules next year.

It was a christmas decoration item of a christmas tree. I don't know about the function of it but maybe it can turn and light up when you on it. Batteries not included!

Next was my sis's turn. She got the note with my name on it. On my mind, I wasn't thinking of anything. It was as though the the time stop for me as I would never imagine my sis picking up my present.

She siao zha bor-ly ripped off the wrapping paper because it was hard to open. In my heart, I was thinking, "I spent the night wrapping the present and you didn't spent a single second wondering my wrapping techniques?!?!?!?" In the end, she say she love the bag as she can put Timothy's item in it when she goes out.

It was my turn to pick a paper and I picked up my sis. It was as though me and my sis exchange each other's present.

It was a lilo and stitch coin bank that has music. No batteries included as well!

It was Mk's turn but he had already picked a paper while I was taking photo. (Don't think I never notice hor!) He got Hx's present and he opened it way in advance.

It was a tie that is unisex. Initially I also thought of buying a tie. One sad thing though, no one knows how to tie a tie.

And so it was left with Jinjin but since she couldn't make it, my younger sis will receive it on her behalf.

Jinjin got Mk's present of a leather sling bag.

Jinjin also got a present for my younger sis as well. How kind of her.

Jinjin and my younger sis had been best friends. Their friendship had even surpass my friendship with jinjin lol.

Last of all, a family photo of all of us!

After the exchange, I quickly abandon them and went to watch The Little Nyonya. They had their regular Dai dee session. Later on, I watched the last few episodes of Hot Shot and finally completed it. It was good!

It will be a good memory for the year ahead!

Christmas Frenzy

Tuesday 23Dec

Meet up with Tb, Hx and Mk at JE. Reached Cyberdome at about 2pm. I went to collect a bag which I asked my friend to buy at a blog shop. The timing change from 4pm to 5:30pm and to 6pm, finally 6:30pm. However, I was quite happy that I finally got that bag and forget all about the timing issue.

After that, meet up with cheapo gang mainly yuenky, sherman and Teresa. Although there's only the few of us, we still have much fun. It's considered the first Christmas we celebrated and hence it is quite significant. May our friendship continues by having another celebration next year!

Initially our plan is to have seoul garden buffet but since lester wasn't there with us, we dropped the idea. So we met at Cineleisure hoping to watch some movies or have dinner there but because Teresa suggested Din Tai Feng and so we tried our luck. To our disappointment, every dining place seem to be a "Hello kitty queue".

In the end, we had Pepper lunch for the night. Luckily, the queue moves fast and we finally settled our hungry stomach. We walked around the christmas village and took pictures with a few groups of people. However the pictures is with Teresa which I think I will never get my hands on it until next year, 2009. See you then.

We heard that Lester was at Balcony Bar and hence we went over there. Upon reaching there, yuenky had the urge to go in. I had never like liquor but because of peer pressure, I went too. We lepak one corner.

As we are not dining and only having drinks there, we went to the 2nd level which has good ambience. We ordered our drinks and chat like there's no tomorrow. By the way, I hated my Russian Coffee because it's mixed with liquor and coffee and it tastes weird.

After that, we went home.

Home, the best

I stayed at home the weekends and accompanied my sister. It's a rare thing to do but neither do I have the mood to go out with friends. I don't know why but I just want to spend the day at home, you know that feeling?

Today, Tb and Hx came over to my house. While we was eating, we suddenly came over to the subject of Johor. I think it was Tb who brought it up as he said his uncle or aunt just went there or something. Whenever "Johor", this word came into the picture, we will associate it to danger.

So I anyhow guess whether if they had been rob. No, he said but someone went toward their car and asked for money. Tb's uncle or aunt of course give it to them to be on the safe side. If you were them, wouldn't you do the same?

To think it was already a very scary incident, Tb went on to tell us another true story of his friend who is a Malaysian. This story creeps me out and it will make me think twice if it is worth it to go there.

He relates that his friend was waiting for another friend at starbucks. That friend of his didn't show up and he waited more than one hour. While waiting, someone approaches him and asked him for money. If he don't give, he would poke a syringe right at him. He warned him that he has Aids.

^Commercial break

That poor friend quickly put a 10 ringgit and ran off. Can you imagine he ke siao and poke the syringe into your body? Although there is a slight possibilities that he's faking it, you wouldn't want to risk it. Think of the aftermath where by you need to go do whole body check-up.

I remembered my classmate told me that Johor has many place to shop. It is a place where by he needs to pass by whenever he goes home. He said you just need to be careful and not do things that are deem to be showing off. Some of the examples are; using of expensive phones in public and gold rings, necklaces etc.

I had many people's opinion and my mum was not spared. I asked her the obvious although I already know what's her answer. So she said it's not worth it to go and have a "gamble". Although it might seems a great deal of fun for the youngs but the disadvantages outlive the advantages. She added that, "actually, there's nothing fun there."

-_-

I agrue that it's not like other countries will be anywhere safer. (I suddenly feels like it's dejavu) This type of topic kept appearing because we usually compare others with ourselves. It seems like I am staying put in Singapore for good.

The Little Nyonya

I guess this show (The Little Nyonya) had become a household name whereby almost everyone had watched it. Be it the advertisement, or by word of mouth, this show makes you curious to take a glance to see what's the fuss about it. While there are also others who takes on a nyonya food rampage when this show is featured. Nyonya food suddenly became the craze of the year!

The fact that many around me is currently watching the show, making sure that they reached home before 9pm, obediently sitting in the living room, just not to miss any part of it. To tell the truth, I am far more extreme than them! In order not to miss any part of it, I asked my sis to use the handphone's video mode to record it down!

So far, I haven't miss any part of it except the first episode, with rumours saying that the first half an hour was introduction to Nyonya things and the second half is where they start the storyline. (At this point in time, episode 20)

The gist of this show lies in the torment faced by the main lead, Jeanette Aw in 2 roles. Almost every episodes, you can see the main lead being defame, torture, malign, hurt, rape, etc. The source of all these troubles are none other than the supporting roles of these "bad" people.

These "bad" people are the ones that made the viewers and audiences feel like giving a punch or a tight slap across their face. However, if you had these feelings towards them, then it can only means that they have what it got to be "bad" people. Simply saying, they are able to portray their roles well.

I am going to do a list of my haters of this show. However, it is based on the episodes that I had watched so far. (which is until episode 20) When I say I hate them, it doesn't mean I really hate them in real life. I hate them because of their characters in the show. Here goes...

#1 hater - Apple Hong as Huang Meiyu

Yes, it's her. You all must be wondering why is it her and not the Tua Ji or the more elder people. She, in my eyes, is the one that most deserve the punch in the eyes. Just looking at the picture, you can feel the hatred in her. When she threw people into the sea, she does not feel sorry for it and still call people "trouble" for that.

Notice that she is always not seen but kept planning plots to harm yue niang. She is always careful in her plans as she always asked other servants to do the dirty job. I am hoping for the day when she will be discovered by anyone that will do justice to it.

Luckily, she had her retribution where Pierre Png acting as Chen Sheng, refused to make her give birth. This had made her very miserable and I was so happy that I couldn't sleep for the night of that episode! Haha!

#2 hater - Eelyn Kok as Huang Zhenzhu

She was the accomplice of the #1 hater for pushing people into the well. Although she still has a heart to save yue niang from the well but she cannot redeem her acts in other aspects. For example, she is famous for adding extra ingredients into other people's wok when their food taste or look better than hers. Her favourite ingredient you ask? It's salt.

She also recently poured burning oil on yue niang's hand where actually her main target was her blood related sister, Yuzhu. Just looking at the scene can make my blood boil. Where got people use this kind of methods to revenge?, in this context, her real sister?

Her another speciality is to slap people. Whenever she lose in talking, she raised her hands and slap people. When people glare at her, she also slap people. It seems like she had nothing better to do and she goes around slapping people.

Luckily again, Qi Yuwu acting as Chen Xi, shows no delight for her.

#3 hater - Lin Mei Jiao as Gui Hua

Critics says that she really looked like a typical nyonya. I hate the part when she always act like she was being kind but on the contrary, forced people to do things that were considered a double edge sword. Remember the part about yue niang being forced to burn the tablet or leave the house?

She is also always seen playing Cheki and chewing leaves. Whenever she loses in Cheki, she blame others for her lost. She even went on to insult the parents of others when it is totally two different things. Sometimes I really don't know how she can possibly link up something so fast.

Erm, currently she is happily being her first wife. She also have many rights in the family but I heard that Yue niang has forgiven her in the end and never blame her at all. So we shall see what she has done to deserve the forgives.

#4 hater - Desmond Sim as Charlie Zhang

Usually it's the woman that takes on the sly and cunning roles. However, he has made it to the top male hater. At the first few episodes, he was a sex maniac that uses whips or belts to torture young girls. Those scenes actually creates a deep impact and you feel like scolding Dai Yang Tian as Yamamoto Yosuke for not saving the young girl and instead, kept writing letters.

Other than being sex maniac, the other parts were not so hateful. His looks suits the role perfectly :)

#5 hater - Felicia Chin as Anqi

Actually I don't really hate her that much but it is because her scenes always interrupt the show. I love the parts on the story being told in the olden days but not in the present. I know it's evitable for these characters but I don't know why I always feel so vexed when they went back to the present where Yue niang narrates the story.

I also don't like the way she gets angry almost towards everything. She only listens to Yue niang and Tao jie.

That's all for now and I will still continue to watch it as it will only get more and more exciting. A point to take note, timing has been change as every monday will be from 8-10pm, Tuesday to Friday will be as normal, 9-10pm.

This means that I had to sacrifice the dance show on channel U at 8pm on monday as The Little Nyonya will be on the priority list!

Pulau Ubin trip 3

The people that went: Mk, Hx, Tb, Jeanette, Jinjin and me.

This is my third time going to pulau ubin. It is also the most tired of all ubin trips because I kept laughing. It is a day that I really forget all the unhappy things that happened recently and play my hearts out. Spending the wholesome day with friends that are said to be priceless experiences.

Looks like everyone is anxious about this trip as we made several calls to remind each other from time to time. Thanks to all that made this trip possible. Thanks for showing all the enthusiasm needed to fill the trip with laughter almost throughout the whole journey!

We all gathered at clementi around 10:30am. Jinjin was late because she cannot find her bag. (Read this sentence 100 times and you will find it strange) We stood through the whole journey from clementi to Tenah merah. After that, we took bus number 2 to changi village and EAT!. The jetty was there as well.

Whenever you go changi village, of course must try their changi village nasi lemak!

This plate of nasi lemak is hard to get. We had to queue 15-20 minutes just to eat this. Although their specialities is their chicken wings and drumsticks, I didn't order it because I was lazy to wash my hands after eating it. My fish fillet is nice as it is served piping hot.

After eating, we went over to the jetty and board the boat. The price of the trip from the jetty to pulau ubin increased by 50 cents, making it a total of $2.50 per head.

Once on the boat, we spam photo-taking like we are some crazy tourists.

The uncle was kind enough to let us move around the boat. Sure enough, we move like nobody's business as we even went behind the uncle and anyhow take pictures.

He nonchalantly show me how he control the direction of the boat by pushing against some handler or something.

Love the wind and the sun for today. Luckily it wasn't raining or else it would have dampen our moods.

After that, we finally reached Pulau Ubin!

Everything didn't change much and it was still the same. The bicycle loaning stores were there and they are offering $2 for bicycles for the whole day. After some investigation, they were found to be hoax! These are the business gimmicks to win the customer's greedy thoughts.

Anyway, we just loan bicycles from the first store of the alighting point as it was convenient. Their bikes were also "presentable" and was available for trying first, before paying. I rememebered the last two trips, we also loan from them and didn't have much problems. So why not save the hassle?

We loan 2 doubles, and 2 singles. As Tb and Jinjin doesn't know how to cycle, me and Jeanette helped them out by loaning the double ones. We tried the bikes and everything was okay. We are all ready to go!

After a few kilometers away, Jeanette and Jinjin was giggling at me and Tb. Jeanette accidentally lose control and both of them fall from their bike. Since Jeanette was the one in the front seat, she was better able to predict the fall and hence she was unhurt. However, Jinjin suffered a cut at her knee and some of them at her palms as she was at the back seat.

After this, Jeanette exchange position with Mk. It was Mk's turn to ride the double seater. However, not long after, the gear came loose as they were unable to sychronised well enough.

It was really a "not-so-good" start. In the end, we had no choice but to return back to the store to exchange another one. Once we got the bike, we quickly rush off as we don't want to waste any time. This time round, all things were smooth and we were happily cycling to the beach.

We crossed my humps before we reached the beach. It was a tiring journey. I guess it was due to not exercising much during our holidays.

After the beach, we decided to cycle back to a place that we used to visit in ubin trip 2. It is a place that we rest, play badminton, drink 100 plus and a big cookie monster!

This photo is taken Sunday, April 22, 2007, 3:51:46 AM (Hello Jinjin!)

When we are done resting, we cycle back to the store as we are hungry and tired. Halfway through, our gear chains came off as well. Luckily the distance away from the store wasn't far or else I would have died on the spot.

The price for singles is $8 and doubles is $15. It wasn't expensive as compared to sentosa which was a ripped off. We waited for Jeanette and Jinjin while they bath. When they are done, we walked over to the seafood restaurant.

Do you know why there is a bag of water hang above every table? It is to scare away the flies that might fly around your seafood that you ordered. You can gently sway the bag of water back and fro.

We ordered 4 dishes and shared among ourselves.

With a full stomach, we took a family photo just before we left the island with happy memories!

I love this picture so much.

Again, we took the same kind of boat back. In the morning, we walk around the boat's front side. As we are returning, we stood in the open air of the boat's back side. The natural lightings from the sun rays is so nice that we took some really nice shots.

After getting down from boat, our legs were like jelly. However, we still want to spend more time with each other and hence we went to the nearby beach.

Friends forever okay?

One for all, all for one.

The ah neh neh style.

The unglamourous shots

The gold diggers

After the beach, we went to take the MRT. As it was a long journey, we took the train to Pasir Ris so that we can get all the seats we wanted.

We were so tired by this time. Some of us were even chionging home to watch xiao niang re.

Overall, it was a great day. Let's look forward to the next outings. Also hope that Jinjin and Tb can faster learn to ride the bicycle so that you all wouldn't be bored.
